Set in New York City in the 1990s, the story follows Jon, a young composer about to turn 30, who struggles to achieve his dream of writing a great musical.

While working as a waiter and preparing to present his work to an audience of Broadway experts, he faces emotional pressures from all sides: from his girlfriend Susan, who wants a life outside the city, and from his best friend Michael, who chooses stability in a corporate job. Caught between doubts and expectations, Jon finds himself at a crossroads: is it worth it to keep dreaming?
